FocusArc

Terms of Service

Last updated: September 20, 2026

Important: FocusArc is a free public project operated by Tharun Muthiyalu Jothir. These Terms describe the current use of the FocusArc browser extension. They are not a substitute for jurisdiction-specific legal advice.

1. About FocusArc

FocusArc is a free browser extension intended to help users manage focus sessions, block websites they choose, and track local study progress.

FocusArc is currently provided as a public, free project. No payment is required to use the current version of the extension.

FocusArc may provide an optional external Buy Me a Coffee link for users who would like to support the project. Donations are voluntary and do not purchase additional FocusArc features, services, or rights. Any donation transaction is handled by Buy Me a Coffee under its own terms and policies; FocusArc does not process payment details through the extension or this website.

2. Using FocusArc

You may use FocusArc for lawful personal or educational purposes, subject to these Terms and the applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.

You are responsible for how you configure and use FocusArc, including the websites you choose to block, the goals you create, and the way you use any focus or progress-tracking features.

3. Local-only service

The current version of FocusArc is designed as an offline-first, local-only browser extension.

FocusArc does not currently provide user accounts, cloud backup, synchronization, or a recovery service for locally stored data.

If you uninstall FocusArc, remove your browser profile, clear relevant browser data, or otherwise lose access to locally stored extension data, that data may no longer be recoverable.

4. Privacy and data

FocusArc does not currently use third-party analytics services, advertising networks, or external data-processing services for the extension's core functionality.

Information about how FocusArc handles data is described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Availability and changes

FocusArc is provided as a free public project and may be updated, modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.

Features, functionality, permissions, and compatibility may change between versions. Browser behavior, including Chrome's permissions, APIs, security policies, and website-blocking capabilities, is controlled in part by the browser platform and may change independently of FocusArc.

6. No guarantee of uninterrupted blocking

FocusArc uses browser-provided mechanisms to apply blocking rules and manage focus sessions. These mechanisms may not work perfectly in every situation or on every website.

You should not rely on FocusArc as the sole safeguard for emergency controls, high-stakes situations, legally required restrictions, or other circumstances where failure of a browser extension could cause significant harm.

7. No professional advice

FocusArc is a productivity and focus tool. It does not provide medical, psychological, educational, legal, financial, or other professional advice.

8. User responsibility

You are responsible for using FocusArc in accordance with applicable laws and for ensuring that your use of the extension does not violate the rights of others or the terms and policies applicable to websites, browsers, devices, or other services you use.

9. Intellectual property

FocusArc, including its software, branding, visual assets, and other original materials, may be protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Nothing in these Terms grants you ownership of FocusArc or its associated intellectual property except for the rights necessary to use the extension as intended.

10. Disclaimer

FocusArc is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent permitted by applicable law.

No guarantee is made that FocusArc will always be available, error-free, compatible with every browser configuration, or capable of blocking every website or web resource selected by a user.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tharun Muthiyalu Jothir is not responsible for losses or damages arising from the use of, inability to use, or reliance on FocusArc, except where liability cannot legally be excluded or limited.

12. Governing law

These Terms are intended to be governed by the laws of Germany, subject to any mandatory consumer protection or other applicable legal provisions that cannot be excluded by agreement.

13. Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated when FocusArc's functionality, legal requirements, or operating model changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the Terms were most recently revised.
